Buffalo, NY Cultural Highlights
Buffalo, NY is part of the Rust Belt cities throughout America that were once thriving but have fallen on hard times since the decline of industries. Despite the challenges to Buffalo the city is still full of history and culture that continues to make the area unique. On the homepage you can view the current cultural highlight but listed below are links to previous events that have been covered.
Elmwood Art Festival
While the Elmwood Art Festival is not as large as the Allentown Festival in June, it is still a wonderful event to attend. There are plenty of wonderful tents setup with a variety of spectacular pieces of art for sale. Live bands, food, and shows liven up on of Buffalo's most vibrant streets. This year the festival is on the 25th and 26th of August so come on down and enjoy one of the remaining days of summer vacation.
Shakespeare in the Park
Every summer in Buffalo at Delaware Park since 1976 there have been two productions of Shakespeare's plays. The non-profit organization hopes to enrich, inspire, and entertain audiences throughout the summer. Best of all the performances are free! This summer audiences can watch Richard III or a Mid-Summer Night's Dream.
Buffalo Bisons
The Bisons were added to the AAA international league in 1988 and have been a highlight of downtown Buffalo every summer. Originally the city was told by Major League Baseball that if the team was successful financially they would add the team to the big show. Despite Buffalo upholding their end of the bargin MLB never delivered on their promise and since 1988 the Bisons have been a part of the Cleveland Indians farm system and most recently the New York Mets. The stadium features the largest HD scoreboard in the minor league system and the Bisons continue to deliver fun promotional nights such as Friday Night Bash, with a live band and fireworks after the game.
